Areas of interest: Couples in conflict, couples in the process of separation and divorce and its impact on children, parents and families in dispute, couples and families with concerns relating to gender and sexuality, helping couples during the transition to parenthood, issues relating to fertility and parenting.

Dr Damian McCann is a senior psychoanalytic couple psychotherapist and consultant family and systemic psychotherapist.

For over 25 years, he was employed in the NHS, as a consultant family and systemic psychotherapist working with the mental health needs of children, young people and their families. He currently works at Tavistock Relationships and in private practice as a psychotherapist and supervisor and is also an adjunct faculty member of the International Psychotherapy Institute based in Washington, DC.

Damian has specialist clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of couples in conflict, couples in the process of separation and divorce and its impact on children, parents and families in dispute, couples and families with concerns relating to gender and sexuality, helping couples during the transition to parenthood, issues relating to fertility and parenting.

Alongside his practice interests and experience, Dr McCann publishes and lectures widely both nationally and internationally on topics relating to gender and sexuality, violence and abuse in couple relationships and parenting.

He is on the editorial board of Couple & Family Psychoanalysis and is a reviewer of papers submitted for publication to the British Journal of Psychotherapy and the Journal of Family Therapy.

He is a UKCP registered systemic psychotherapist and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council.
