Lorna Robinson

BACP and BPC registered, Member of Tavistock Relations, Editor-in-chief of the journal Couple and Family Psychoanalysis

Areas of interest: Couples communication, parenting, illness, infertility, difficulties in the sexual relationship, affairs, or changes in later life

Lorna is a couple psychoanalytic psychotherapist and an individual psychodynamic psychotherapist who specialises in working with relationship difficulties.

Individual therapy can help people to better understand themselves and the impact of earlier experiences on their lives. It can provide understanding and relief from anxieties and emotional states and improve the capacity for relationships.

Couples therapy can provide an opportunity to look at difficulties in relationships which may be exacerbated by stress, trauma or life changes. Problems may include communication, parenting, illness, infertility, difficulties in the sexual relationship, affairs, or changes in later life. Help may also be sought in how to achieve a less acrimonious separation or divorce.

Alongside her private practice, Lorna is head of the couple psychoanalytic clinical training at Tavistock Relationships, where she works in the clinical and training services as a psychotherapist, supervisor, tutor and clinical lecturer. For some years she ran the centre’s programme of post-qualification events and conferences, and has also headed up the foundation stage training programme.

Lorna is an editor-in-chief of the journal Couple and Family Psychoanalysis, and is also the book reviews editor.

She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the British Psychoanalytic Council.
